BOSTON?The FBI wants to talk to two men captured on video near one of the sites of the Boston Marathon bombings, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said at a public meeting Thursday morning.

"I wouldn't characterize them as suspects under the technical term, but we need the public's help in locating these individuals," Napolitano said when asked to give an update during a Committee on Homeland Security budget meeting.

Officials from the FBI and the Boston Police Department did not immediately return calls from Yahoo News. However, a message sent from the Police Department's Twitter account at approximately 9:40 a.m. suggested a possible pending development.

"Expect crime scene area 2 remain impacted today," states the tweet from @Boston_Police. "Investigation continues. Check back for public announcement from @Boston_Police and FBI."

The manhunt for who planted the two shrapnel-filled bombs that exploded near the marathon finish line on Monday is now in its fourth day. Three people died in the blast, and at least 170 were injured.

Late Wednesday, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick said investigators were gaining ground on identifying the assailant or assailants.

?They are making progress, there?s no doubt about it,? Patrick told reporters.

The improvised explosive devices were located about 100 yards apart near the race's finish line. Authorities, who canceled two news conferences on Wednesday, have not announced a time for their next public briefing.
