This week in celebrity real estate, Cher listed her modern Venice abode, DeSean Jackson made his first home purchase and Ethan Hawke found a buyer for his colorful crib.
Cher?s Venice home hits the market
Apparently the woman?s world Cher sings about doesn?t include her 3-bedroom home in Venice. The pop superstar is selling her modern abode for $1.89 million.
When compared with her sprawling six-bedroom Malibu estate, Cher?s 2,250-square-foot Venice home is quite modest. While it has been remodeled with modern features including high ceilings, sliding glass walls and a sleek rooftop deck, the home?s biggest selling point seems to be its location at 125 Vista Pl., Venice, Calif. 90291.
The house is within walking distance to shops, bars and art galleries on Venice?s Main Street and Abbot Kinney Boulevard. An outdoor bamboo shower and built-in barbecue on the roof are also nice additions to the artsy-meets-chic property.
Cher purchased the home in May 2010 for $1.54 million, according to property records. An estimated monthly payment is $6,833, assuming 20 percent down on a 30-year fixed mortgage.
DeSean Jackson grabs sensible crib
It looks like Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson is one of the few multi-millionaires who got the post-Great Recession memo about buying houses: ?Less Is More.?
The Long Beach, Calif. native, who was slapped with the franchise tag last year by the Eagles and awarded a $51 million contract extension, has turned some heads with his very first real estate purchase.
Instead of going large, the 26-year-old speedster made what appears to be a sensible decision with the purchase of a $1.65 million home in Tarzana, Calif. The 3,800-square-foot home features mature updated decor that gives the 1951 house a tasteful feeling of luxury.
But with its San Fernando Valley locale, Jackson?s new home is not the kind of nouveau riche palace that other NFL and pro athletes like to show off on MTV ?Cribs.?
Report: Ethan Hawke?s Colorful Chelsea Pad Attracts a Buyer
It looks as though Ethan Hawke isn?t the only New Yorker who likes a little color in his life. The actor?s six-bedroom Chelsea townhouse has snagged a buyer, The Real Deal reports.
After removing the for-sale listing on the home at 353 W. 21st St., New York, N.Y. 10011, the Corcoran Group website notes that the home is under contract. The 3,500-square-foot townhouse was originally listed for $6.25 million in January.
Built 21 feet wide and three stories high, the home?s bold interior design adds distinct character to each room ? from a red and yellow diner-inspired kitchen to a floor-to-ceiling bookcase painted the 2013 Pantone color of the year, emerald green.
Also adding to the home?s trendy flair is the mix of old and new with a clawfoot bathtub and brick fireplace offsetting bright bohemian patterns and accessories.
The ?New York, I Love You? actor purchased the townhouse in 2005 for $3 million. It was reportedly once inhabited by Andy Warhol superstar Viva, who appeared in his artwork and films.
